Playing Season

 

The club plays outside May to September consisting of internal leagues, competitions, friendly matches against other clubs both home and away and roll up sessions.

The green is available every day from 10.30 am until dusk , except Moday's when it is from 4pm  

Mondays excepted when play starts at 5.00 pm. This is for green maintenance.

 

The club has a very active indoor Short Mat program. In the closed season this consist of internal leagues in the morning between 10.00 till 1200 middday. Casual rollup’s between 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm in the evening 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm. All sessions are 2 hours.

There are also short mat league matches and friendly matches against other clubs

There are varying restrictions on short mat play during the outdoor season May - September.

The charge for short mat is £2.00 pound per player per session from October 2026 the fee will be 2.50

 

Cost.

 

1. There is no joining fee.

2. The annual subscription is £60 payable at the end of January.  If you join during the year, this subscription is reduced pro-rata.

3. English Bowls Association registration £10.50 – this is your registration to play outside.

4. A payment of approximately £114 is paid over to the council for the upkeep of the greens.  This is the 2026 season green fee and the council sets their fee annually.

 

Please note

 

Items 3 and 4 are to be paid so you can play outside bowls. There are no additional costs when you come to play unless we are having a charity day.

Item 2 is for the running costs of the club (insurances, energy costs, cleaning etc.)

 

There is of course the additional cost of personal equipment and clothing.

 

Outdoor Dress Code

All Members

a)    On ‘GREY’ days, bowls branded* pair of trousers, bowling skirt, cropped trousers or bowls branded* shorts (NO jeans, casual/cargo trousers or track suit bottoms, no skinny jeans, leggings, outside zips, patch pockets, baggy trouser legs).
b)    On ‘WHITE’ days, , bowls branded* pair of trousers, bowling skirt, cropped trousers or bowls branded* shorts (NO jeans, casual/cargo trousers or track suit bottoms, no skinny jeans, leggings, outside zips, patch pockets, baggy trouser legs).
On both days the following will apply:     
a)    White or club blue jumper/cardigan or fleece.
c)    White or club blue waterproof jacket/trousers.
d)    White hat.
e)    Approved flat-soled bowling shoes. 
f)    It is a requirement when representing Hadleigh against other clubs, only the Blue/yellow and white approved club polo shirts are to be worn. This applies to indoor short mat matches as well as outdoors.
g)    When playing internal matches (not against other clubs), members may wear the approved club polo shirts or their older white polo/tailored collared shirts.

Anyone who is seen not wearing the correct clothing will, in the first instance, be reminded of the dress code by the Captains or Vice-Captains. 
If there is a further instance, they will have to leave the rinks and change their clothes to the correct clothing. This rule applies every time members are on the green for any session - roll-up sessions, matches, marking and competitions. 

Players must change into their bowls shoes before they enter and play on the outside rinks or in the short mat hall.  Bowls shoes must not be worn to and from the bowls club. 

If you are unclear about the correct dress code, please speak to the Captains or Vice-Captains.
