WELCOME

Who are we?
Hadleigh Bowls Club in Essex was formed in 1930. In the early nineteen sixties the club moved to it's present site in the recreation ground known as John H Boroughs, in the centre of Hadleigh.
It's clubhouse is leased from the local council, and is attached to the public rink. The club enjoys a full outdoor season from May through to September with members involved in internal leagues and competitions, local area leagues, roll ups and friendly matches. It also holds various social functions throughout the year
In the early nineteen nineties the club introduced a short mat season from October to April in the clubhouse. There was only room for one mat and this was used from 9am to 9pm seven days a week.
In 2004 the idea of an extension of some description was raised and enquiries made. Land was available adjacent to the existing clubhouse and negotiations with the local council eventually proved fruitful. A new lease was negotiated and the land acquired.
Over the next few years negotiations were made re funding and changes made to our constitution to enable us to become a mixed club, planning application was granted and building work commenced.
In May 2009 the finished building was formally opened by Mr Bob Spink MP
This enabled the club to have a purpose built facility for short mat bowling all the year round while still enjoying the use of the existing pavilion.
